Angela, This is such a great idea. I am really looking forward to hearing how you progress in your Ning. I know the students will be ecstatic and take right to it. Congratulations and it was a pleasure to have you in class! Alice

I also feel overwhelmed by the incredible amount of information that's out there. I think that's the most important reason for teachers to embrace the Web2.0 technologies-- it's far easier to make sense of all the "stuff" by engaging in conversations with other like-minded individuals. Del.icio.us is just one example of being able to share curriculum related websites easily with other teachers. RSS makes it easy to subscribe to others' blogs, especially the "big thinkers" like Warlick, Richardson, the CoolCat Teachers, etc. That's how I came across your blog... while reading David Warlick's blog.

I am responsible for technology PD, and I'm always thankful for teachers like you who "get it" (as opposed to those who have the deer in the headlights look). Even if you sometimes feel overwhelmed, that's normal, and take comfort in the fact that there is an entire community of people going through the same feelings you are. Even better, there are so many who are willing to help and encourage you, even the likes of Warlick and Richardson (and others) who will respond to an email or a comment you leave on their blog.

I look forward to reading your future posts. Your Ning idea sound exciting! Keep us posted.

Angela,

I really enjoyed your presentation. I think a ning is a great way to meet online. This is a great use of technology for an extracurricular. I'm going to suggest it to some of our activity moderators.

Angela,

I think you have found the perfect tool for this situation! Using the ning will be great for the students as well as the educators. It will give all a new learning experience, as well as the ability to work collarboratively. Good luck to you as you work to put this together. I hope to hear all about it in the next BEAM newsletter!

Angela,

This is a great project. You are teaching students looking to be future business leaders some very important skills for the 21st century. They must be able to work collaboratively with people who are not necessarily in the same room as they are. Best of luck with this project. Hopefully it will get more teachers using tools like Ning.

Angela
With all that we learned in class I had sort of forgot about the ning. i was so glad you presented on Friday (despite the heat) and think the ning network sounds like the perfect way to bring all these people together in one "place" and also have all the questions and comments go to that same one place. I think that's what I like best about what we learned thispast week, we can now bring it all together and right to us, rather than have to chase it all down. Good luck pulling it all together!

Being in the elementary school, we have a unit "junior achievement" where outside business leaders come for a week long seminar to promote/tie in community service learning. Is this then where they jumpr from into future business leaders?

The Ning is a great idea. You sparked a thought for me as well. I'm making a blog for my 3rd grade class but a Ning could be a cool tool to use if I want to take parent conferencing to a new level. Thanks.
